Youth killed in Gopalganj clash – Dhaka Tribune

A youth has been killed and 10 others injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over establishing supremacy at Khalia Dokhinpara under Gopalganj Sadar upazila.

The deceased is Touhid Molla, 37, son of late Hasem Mollah of the area.

“Jalalabad Union Parishad Chairman Suparul Islam Molla and local influential Thanda Molla had a longstanding dispute over establishing supremacy in the area,” Sadar police OC Selim Reza told the Dhaka Tribune.

“Their supports, equipped with sharp weapons, engaged in a bloody clash, leaving Touhid and 10 others injured.

“Locals rushed the injured to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital where duty doctors declared Touhid dead,” the OC added.

On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional policemen have been deployed in the area to prevent further unwanted situation.
