Patna: Tension gripped Pakri Chowk in Ara district headquarters town following indiscriminate firing by a gang of armed criminals on Saturday morning. Three persons suffered bullet injuries in the incident.
Amit Kumar, Ravi Kumar and Vineet Kumar were rushed to Ara Sadar hospital, where their condition was stated to be out of danger. The trio were residents of Pakri Chowk under the jurisdiction of Nawada police station.
Police said around 7.30am, two motorbike-borne men fired eight rounds from country-made pistols at the trio who told the police that they had an altercation with some local youths on Friday night over a petty issue. The police suspect the involvement of a rival group in the incident.
Ara Sadar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Sanjay Kumar said the shooters’ identities had already been ascertained.
“Raids were conducted to nab the miscreants but they managed to escape,” he told The Telegraph over phone. He described the incident to be the fallout of a rivalry between two groups. Earlier, Pakri Chowk residents demanded that senior police officers order enhanced patrolling in the area as a precautionary measure.
The SDPO later asked the station house officer of Nawada police station to step up vigil in the area.
