Travel operator robbed, killed – The Telegraph – The Telegraph

Gaya: Criminals on Saturday night killed a tour and travel operator, Rajesh Rai, and also looted his SUV on National Highway 83, around 100m from Kadauna police outpost in Jehanabad district.

At the time of incident, the Gaya-based businessman was driving home from Patna. No arrest had been made in this connection till reports last came in. Later, the SUV was found abandoned from a brick kiln in Sukhdev Bigha village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kako police station.

“Prima facie evidence shows that a sharp weapon has been used in the murder,” said Jehanabad superintendent of police (SP) Manoj Kumar on being contacted. “No empty cartridge has been recovered from the place of occurrence. No bullet was even found during post-mortem examination of the body. A team from the forensic science laboratory, Patna and a dog squad visited the place of occurrence and conducted investigations.”

On the motive behind the murder, the SP said police were conducting investigations from two angles – robbery and planned murder owing to enmity or some other reason.

However, Rajsesh’s family members have so far not told the police about his enmity with anyone. They just informed that Rajesh had left home on Saturday morning with two-three persons promising to return by night. Police are also trying to ascertain the identities of the persons who accompanied Rajesh. “They will be interrogated,” the SP said.

Rajesh, hailing from Simaria village in Buxar district, used to run the tour and travel business with only three to four vehicles. He owns a house in Bairagi mohulla in Gaya town which falls under the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station but Rajesh’s family, which comprises his wife, two daughters and a son, stays in another house near DAV Public School Cantonment Area branch on Gaya-Dobhi road.
