AURANGABAD: The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced additional coaches on a few important trains in keeping with the increase in passenger load.

The Nanded-Mumbai-Nanded daily Tapovan Express, Nanded-Bikaner-Nanded weekly Express and Tirupati-Shirdi-Tirupati weekly Express are the trains that will have extra coaches on a temporary basis.

The Tapovan Express (17617/17618 ) will have one extra AC chair car for one month beginning from June 1, an official release said.

The train, which leaves Nanded at 10.05 am every day and reaches Mumbai via Nashik at 9.50 pm, is one of the most crowded train in the Nanded region. It covers distance of 606km within 11 hours 45 minutes at an average speed of 52km per hour.

The Nanded-Bikaner-Nanded weekly Express (17623/17624) will have one additional sleeper class for about one month from June 1. The train which leaves from Nanded every Thursday and from Bikaner every Friday, has 27 halts in its nearly 1,695km journey.

The Tirupati-Shirdi-Tirupati weekly Express (17417/17418 ) will also have one additional sleeper class for almost a month beginning from June 6. The train which leaves Tirupati every Tuesday at 7am and reaches Shirdi on Wednesday via Mantralaya, Nanded and Aurangabad covers 1,436km.

Rajesh Shinde, public relations officer with Nanded division of SCR, said, “Additional coaches in three long-distance trains have been added on a temporary basis anticipating rush at the end of vacation season and early monsoon journeys.”
