Hyderabad: Prof Sunaina Singh, Vice-Chancellor, English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) will take charge as Vice-Chancellor of the Nalanda University on May 15. According to university officials, Prof Sunaina will complete five years as EFLU VC on May 13 and will demit office on the same day. She will take charge as the VC of Nalanda University on May 15, said university officials.
Prof. Sunaina Singh was appointed by President Pranab Mukherjee as Nalanda University Vice-Chancellor. She was selected from a list of 130 to head the prestigious International University and is the first academic from the south region and Osmania University to occupy the position.
As the Vice Chancellor of English and Foreign Languages University, Prof. Sunaina has played a dynamic role in streamlining the administration, reinvigorating the academic culture, and bringing about transparency and accountability into the system, the university said. She also holds the position of vice president of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and has the distinction of being the first Indian woman to head as the president of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, the bi-national research institution with headquarters in New Delhi and Calgary under the MHRD and Canadian Government.
