Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address an election rally at Banka today at 2:30 pm. This will be PM Modi’s first election rally in Bihar after poll dates were announced.
Earlier, Mr. Modi had addressed four Parivartan rallies at Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Saharsa and Bhagalpur. A large number of crowd had gathered at all four rallies.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh and leaders of alliance parties Jitan Ram Manjhi of Hindustani Awam Morchas and Ram Vilas Paswan of Lok Janshakti Party along with BJP leaders will be present at the Banka rally.
Mr. Modi, said party leaders, will be addressing about 20 poll rallies in Bihar, where political parties are locked in a keen fight over 243 Assembly seats.
The Bihar poll result is likely to set the political future of both the BJP and Nitish Kumar-Lalu Prasad.
Both the political blocks — the BJP-led NDA and the Nitish-Lalu led grand alliance — have put in all their strength and resources to tilt the intense Bihar battle in their favour promising free laptops, two-wheelers, land, sari-dhoti and educational loans to students.
It’s also going to be a no-holds barred election campaign as leaders have started attacking each other on the personal front.
BJP President Amit Shah called RJD chief Lalu Prasad as chara (fodder) chor while Lalu Prasad retaliated calling Mr. Shah as narbhakshi (man eater).
The political leaders have also calling upon their castes for unity to win the poll.
On Saturday, Congress President Sonia Gandhi too will be addressing a public meeting at Kahalgaon, near Bhagalpur.
