LUCKNOW: In what seems to be a sinister plan to eliminate all female members of family, UP police on Wednesday found out that five females had been pushed out of a moving train on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
On Tuesday morning a minor girl was found dead across railway tracks in Bhawanipur area of Sitapur district while her two sisters were found injured. Probing the case further on Wednesday government railway police found out that besides three girls, their mother Afreen Khatoon (35) and fourth sister Rubina were also pushed.
All the five have been identified as Afreen (35), and her daughters Rubina (12), Albun (10), Muniya (6) and Shamina (4). While Afreen and Muniya succumbed to their injuries, Rubina, and Shamina are undergoing treatment at Sitapur district hospital while Albun was being treated at KGMU trauma centre.
The group had boarded Amritsar – Saharsa Jansadharan Express on Monday from Ludhiana, said investigators who were trying to piece together the murder mystery.
“The woman was found in Maigalganj area of Lakhimrpur Kheri district and we feel that she was pushed around 2.30am Amritsar — Saharsa Jansadharan Express. After that the assailants pushed Rubina in Mehmoodabad area of Sitapur. The other three girls were found at a close distance in Bhawanipur area of Sitapur and were discovered easily,” said Lucknow GRP superintendent Saumitra Yadav.
Albun’s statement was recorded on Wednesday morning and a team of three policemen was sent to Bihar to trace the father of the injured girls. The girl told police that the family hails from Bettiah in Bihar and had shifted to Punjab along with many more people from the same neighbourhood. The migrants worked as labourers in Ludhiana and seem to be heading back to their native town on account of Chatth holidays.
The male members travelling with the group of five females are yet to be traced and police have found out that father of the injured girls was named Mohd Iddudin. “The girls speak in Maithili and it is difficult to understand their dialect,” said GRP circle officer Ashok Singh who met the other two injured sisters at Sitapur hospital on Wednesday.
Maternal uncle of the girls Iqbal and their neighbour from Bihar identified as Izhar are the two other suspects besides Iddudin, as Albun told police that Iqbal and Izhar were accompanying them. “The team will visit East Champaran and Motihari districts to find whereabouts of the three men,” added Singh.
