‘Kidnapped’ Samastipur girl rescued – Times of India

SAMASTIPUR: Police on Saturday rescued a teenage girl, who was allegedly kidnapped from Rajkhand village under Tajpur police station in the district on October 15. The girl was rescued from Chandsarai bus stand under Jandaha police station in the neighbouring Vaishali district.

After her medical examination at the sadar hospital, police took the girl to the civil court, Samastipur, where her statement will be recorded.

Samastipur SP Dipak Ranjan said two persons – Saroj Sahni and Anchal Sahni – of Indrawara Jitwarpur village under Halai police outpost of the district were arrested and a country-made rifle, two live cartridges, a motorcycle and two cellphones recovered from their possession after the police raided Rajkhand village on October15 and chased the criminals involved in the alleged kidnapping of the girl.

The girl’s mother had named 12 persons in the FIR. Of them, seven were later arrested by a team of policemen led by SDPO (sadar) Md Tanveer Ahmad. All the seven persons, including two women – Sangam Devi and Kiran Devi – of Vaishali district are in judicial custody.

The girl was unmarried when she was allegedly kidnapped. However, to the surprise of many, the girl was wearing sindoor when she was brought to the court on Saturday. It is believed that she got married to one Hemant Sahni of Dih Bichauli village under Jandaha police station in Vaishali district.

Meanwhile, police have so far not arrested anyone in connection with the gruesome murder of one Janardan Thakur under Tajpur police station. The murder had snowballed into a violent agitation resulting in police firing at Tajpur on October 20. One Jitendra Malakar was allegedly killed in the police firing.
