Aurangabad: A day after official website of government polytechnic was hacked, the form-filling for re-checking and revaluation took a major hit on Wednesday causing inconvenience to the students.
While the institution has initiated efforts for restoring the website, an alternative arrangement is being worked out to aid the students.
The cyber attack on prominent establishments located in the city continues unabated as anti-national elements hacked and defaced the polytechnic college website on Tuesday evening.
The cyber attackers, who identified themselves as SH11 Team Pak Cyber Skullz, posted messages supporting separatists groups in Jammu & Kashmir and used derogatory language against Indian security forces.
The attack took place close on the heels of declaration of results and a section of students who were trying to access the website immediately brought it to the notice of higher-ups from government polytechnic.
A few months ago, the website of Indo-German Tool Room (IGTR) and Aurangabad divisional commissionerate was also hacked.
An FIR was lodged at the Osmanpura police about the incident. The cyber cell of Aurangabad police will further investigate into the matter.
Gajanan Kalyankar, in-charge of cyber cell, said, “The website logs would be checked to know the IP address of computers used by cyber attackers. We can detect location of attackers by IP address. There are high chances that cyber attackers are not from India going by the details of website defacement,” he said.
Umesh Nagdeve, acting principal of Government polytechnic, Aurangabad, said, “Students were opting for re-checking and revaluation post declaration of results for different courses on May 26. We have put alternate measures in place to complete the redressal process. We have also lodged a complaint with the police and asked developers to restore the website with non-breachable security as early as possible,” he said.
Nagdeve said that cyber attackers who hacked the website of his institution also inflicted similar attacks on a few other prominent websites in the country on Tuesday.
Established in the year 1957, government polytechnic Aurangabad offers diploma courses in different streams with a total intake capacity of 720 seats.
