Bihar: Flood situation eases in Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar and Purnea districts – All India Radio


In Bihar, flood situation eases in Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar and Purnea districts. Casualities in the state due to flood related incidents has risen to 442. Over one crore 70 lakh people spreading over 19 districts are still reeling under the impact of floods.

However, situation continues to remain grim in Muzaffarpur and Samastipur districts. Water level of Burhi Gandak is increasing in Muzaffarpur and Samastipur. Surging water of Burhi Gandak and Bagamati has engulfed new areas of Darbhanga and Samastipur.

Gandak is posing threat to embankment in Begusarai. Relief and Rescue operations are in full swing.
Besides army teams NDRF teams are carrying out relief and rescue operations.

Food packets are being dropped in those areas where people are still surrounded by flood waters. Cooked food is being served to the flood affected people at Community Kitchen centres. Over eight lakh 50 lakh affected people have been shifted to safer places. Over one lakh 65 thousand people are living in varous relief camps.
