Patna, Oct 31 (PTI) Sixteen Naxals today surrendered
before the Sashastra Seema Bal and the Bihar Police in the
Sheohar district of the state, a senior official said.
The Maoist cadres had a number of criminal cases
registered against them and surrendered before the security
forces at an event conducted to commemorate the National Unity
Day and the 142nd birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai
“A total of 16 Naxals surrendered in the Sheohar
district. They will be rehabilitated as per the policy of the
state government,” SSB Inspector General (Patna Frontier)
Chanchal Shekhar said.
The Maoists are in the age group of 35-50 years and had
cases under the Arms Act, the Explosives Act and the Unlawful
Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) registered against them, a
senior SSB officer said.
The cadres surrendered before the joint forces without
any weapons, he said.
